What's New At ISO

Hi everyone! I’m so happy to be getting back into a normal routine and blogging after an unexpected, yet definitely needed, blogging break. It feels great to sit down at my desk with a cup of black coffee and connect with you all. I have a ton of updates to share, so lets jump right in!

If you’ve been following along ISO, Instagram, or Facebook, you’ll know that I moved my family from Florence, Italy to Sacramento, California in late June. We arrived safely, albeit without our eight pieces of luggage and car seat (thanks Florence airport for that fond farewell—I don’t miss you either), to our new apartment in Sacramento. Though we slept on the floor for the first night and had an out of commission oven for a week, our new apartment felt like home nearly right away. I couldn’t get over how easy it was for us to get new phones (I had a say farewell to my trusty iPhone 3 I purchased in Hong Kong), phone plans, home Internet, utilities, driver’s license… you name it, it was easy. After living abroad for about nine years, I am amazed and thankful for the ease of everything—it is really what I needed, especially after the last two years in Italy where everything felt like a struggle. I needed easy this time around, so thank you Sacramento for that.

I find that after every major move comes a month or so of money and time crunch until we figure out our new expenses and enter a new normal of work-life balance. So here we are, slowly entering the new normal.

So, what does this new normal and major move mean for ISO? I’m planning to continue writing posts once per week or biweekly (follow along on Instagram, Facebook, or Bloglovin so you’ll be notified of new posts), with a mix of shorter “one-stop-shop” posts and longer guides. I still have a few posts on my mind about Croatia, Slovenia and Italy, so the focus won’t only be on the US. If there is anything specific you would like me to write about, feel free to shoot me an email or contact me on social media (I’m most active on Instagram and Facebook).

What has been making you happy this summer?
