Planning For A Trip To Ljubljana, Slovenia
As the second stop on our last-hurrah road trip, we’re stopping in Ljubljana to enjoy the beautiful architecture and cool coffee culture. From reading about Ljubljana, it reminds me a lot of Vilnius, Lithuania—similar architecture, underrated hip scene, great cafes, cheap prices—so I’m very excited to visit Ljubljana since I love Vilnius so much.
As usual, I like to share my trip planning tips on In Search Of, both to help me learn about a destination and to help you if you happen to be traveling too.
I wanted to have a few tasty spots to drink coffee preplanned on our map, so I checked Spruge for a guide. I found a full guide to Ljubljana on Spruge and am excited to check out the spots mentioned on their list.
Isabel from the Sunny Side of This was an expat in Ljubljana, so my next stop for trip planning was her blog. There are a ton of wonderful posts on her blog including this overall guide and this post about where to eat.
When I was living in Vilnius, I remembered reading about Open Kitchen in Ljubljana, so of course that is on our itinerary for our visit! Open Kitchen in Vilnius was one of my favorite events, so I’m excited to see what it is like in Ljubljana!
I love taking free walking tours when I travel to different cities by myself. This time, I’d love to take a free tour with my family. The company Ljubljana Free Tour offers free walking tours daily that seem to cover the main sights in the city. I can’t wait.
Aside from exploring Ljubljana, we’re going to drive to Lake Bled and plan to walk around the entire lake. I’m thinking a picnic and definitely stopping off for a Bled Cream Cake, as recommended by Two Scots Abroad.
