The Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill

Friday, February 6, 2015

Wow. I was so blown away by the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill. This was one of those sites that no matter how many photos you've seen it just cannot do it justice. Prior to visiting, I could kind of picture the Colosseum in my head, but I never could have imagined the magnitude of the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill complex. It was just completely breathtaking.

What really blew me away though was the Forum and Palatine Hill area. Because I could sort of picture the Colosseum I wasn't so surprised by the structure. It was the sheer amount of structures and the quality of the structural remains in the Forum and Palatine Hill that shocked me. Luckily, my Mom had brought the Rick Steve's Guide along with her, which provided a map, photos, and explanations of many of the structural remains. So cool. When you visit, bring the guide - it really brings everything to life!

  2. I love it there. I went to university for a semester in Italy. We spent a week in Rome, and our teacher divided up the major monuments and we had to teach about them. My monument was in the forum. Wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing! www.eatallovertheworld.com
