New Haven, Connecticut is the home of Yale, the MetroNorth commuter rail, and an intense Pizza Battle. In New Haven's Little Italy there are two rival pizza places: Frank Pepe's Pizzeria Napoletana and Sally's Apizza. The clear winner in my book is Frank Pepe's Pizzeria Napoletana due to their perfectly cheese, saucy, and meaty combinations. Okay, so not so much of a battle.
Anyways, Little Italy in New Haven is located on Wooster Street. Though this Little Italy is small (really only 1 street long), there is excellent food, which makes it worth a visit. On the top of that food list is certainly Frank Pepe's, which has been around since 1925. After filling up on pizza, strolling down the tree and park lined streets of this neighborhood makes you feel transported to a different place - well maybe just not like you are in New Haven.
Because there is always room for dessert you should end your visit with a trip to Libby's Italian Pastry Shop. At Libby's you can find a ridiculous variety of amazing cannoli, Italian cookies, pastries, and gelato.
Where is your favorite pizza from? Thick or thin crust? Now I'm really hungry for pizza...
