Prayer flags on Lion Mountain overlooking Lugu Lake in Yunnan Province, China

Yunnan will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first place I went somewhere so completely different. Traveling to Yunnan is what initially got me into travel. To me, Yunnan is biodiversity and cultural diversity wrapped up into one incredibly colorful and lush province. Yunnan is why I'm so interested in experiencing culture, tasting new foods, and admiring biodiversity (okay I was already into the biodiversity thing). These aspects of traveling are awe inspiring and, in Yunnan, appear behind every new mountain peak.

In China, places like Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong are for big city lovers. Xi'an is for history, and Yunnan is for those who love culture and nature. For the next few weeks I'm going to be posting about a few of the amazing things to do in Yunnan Province.

    1. So you are having problems posting comments as well? Maybe I should email blogger. I frequently reply to comments and then see that they haven't been posted. Usually it takes me a few times, but I guess I thought if it was only me it was no big deal. If you can't post than that is a problem!

I've never visited South American, but I would absolutely love to.

  9. Happy Belated Birthday! :) I think I would much prefer places like Yunnan over the big cities. We visited Beijing and Shanghai and I wasn't a huge fan.

    1. Thank you! I agree that Beijing is so large and can be too crowded to enjoy. I've never been to Shanghai before, though. Yunnan is by far my favorite province to visit because of the diversity and ability to get out of the cities. If you ever visit China again you should try to go there!
